The Middle Rio Grande Council Of Governments (MRGCOG) and the Middle Rio Grande Water Assembly are seeking involvement from the people of our region in developing a plan that will reflect our values and concerns.
If you are concerned about water in our region, or just want to learn more about our water picture, join us for a series of events to identify issues and problems, develop goals and objectives and review preliminary information on planning alternatives. This information will be critically important to developing a successful plan for our communities.
The Middle Rio Grande Water Assembly is a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 in order to "to develop a plan of sustainable water management strategies for the Middle Rio Grande Region and establish a process to implement the plan". The Middle Rio Grande Water Resources Board was created by MRGCOG to oversee the development and implementation of a water plan for the region. Marianne Woodard is the Village representative to that board.
While the plan will take several years to develop, a series of meetings is being held to obtain public input. In light of the controversy about the silvery minnow, and the general scarcity of this important natural resource, broad public involvement in the process is needed to ensure that the policy meets the needs of the entire community.
The meetings held nearest to the Village are listed below. For more information contact:
