Here in
the State of New Mexico, we have reached that time of year
when the threat of extreme fire conditions is upon us. These
extreme conditions are attributed directly to the lack
of rainfall, increasing summer temperatures, and heavy fuels.
As a preventative
measure, the Los Ranchos Fire Department will realize and enforce
the State's request to restrict both fire and open burning.
Consequently,
the following types of fires and open burning are
prohibited in the Village of Los Ranchos, as well as
the surrounding City and County:
1) Smoking
in open areas
2) Open flames
3) Campfires
4) Weed burning
5) Prescribed burning
6) Burning of slash piles, debris, rangeland, croplands, or fields
7) Open burning.
Note: These
restrictionswill remain in effect until rescinded.
Exceptions:
1) Charcoal broilers, barbecue grills, wood and coal-burning
stoves used outside of private dwellings may be used with proper
fire protection and supervision on site.
2) Smoking is restricted
to designated areas, within structures or within vehicles equipped
with ashtrays.
By Order
of the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque Fire Marshal .
