Open Burning is Allowed Again in the Unincorporated Areas Bernalillo County
Open burning is allowed again in Bernalillo County, weather permitting, from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

The Bernalillo County Fire Prevention

Bureau offers these rules for burning:  

·  Residents need to be able readily extinguish the fire. · 

 The fire must not be left unattended.

·  Residents are allowed to burn dry tumbleweeds only.

·  The fire needs to be at least 50 feet from any structure or combustible materials and piles must be no larger than 3 ft by 3 ft.

·  If you have any questions or need more information, please call the Fire Prevention Bureau at 468-1310.  

The burn number has been changed to 468-7200; residents can still call the old number (768-4200) until April 2010.  Both numbers have the updated burn information.
