Dear Friends of Lavender in the Village,
It is with regret that we announce that Lavender in the Village Festival will not be held in 2011 but will be re-established in 2012.
Lavender in the Village Festival is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization governed by an independent Board of Directors. A number of factors contributed to the Board's decision to cancel this year's festival. Primary among those factors was the loss of the Festival's prime venue, Los Poblanos. The Rembe Family and Los Poblanos have been the backbone of the festival since its inception. With the substantial growth of the Festival's attendance numbers in recent years we all concur that it is appropriate to identify another Village venue for the agricultural demonstrations and You Pick Lavender portion of the Festival. Other factors included securing corporate sponsorships and in-kind services in a time of economic hardship, coupled with the Festival's desire to identify a visible project within the Village to reinvest past proceeds into our community that meet the criteria consistent with our mission statement and deliberately supported by our sponsors.
The Festival Board of Directors will continue to work in a spirit of cooperation on all of these matters in planning for a return of the Festival in 2012 with renewed and strengthened partnerships.
We are thankful to the Village administration, merchants and residents of the Village of Los Ranchos for your steadfast support and sustaining efforts that made this event a success each and every year. We are particularly thankful to the Rembe Family for their years of generosity and cornerstone leadership; as well as to Sue Brawley and the Village Growers' Market for the cooperative arrangement we have enjoyed at the Village Green on Festival weekend and their promotional support year-round.
Warm Personal Regards,
Board of Directors
