Board of Trustees
|
The
governing body of the Village of Los Ranchos is composed
of four trustees elected by the voters to four year staggered
terms. Our current Board of Trustees is composed of Mary
Homan, Tim McDonough, Don Lopez and Pablo Rael. All
of our hard working board members are committed to making
the Village a better place to live and work.
Regular
Trustee meetings are held at Village Hall on the 2nd Wednesday
of each month. Special Meetings are called as needed.
Agendas for the
meetings are available from the Village
Clerk and will be posted on this site. The board
has a long history of encouraging public participation through
a public comment period scheduled for every meeting. It is
necessary, however, to register with the Village
Clerk, Annabelle Silvas prior to the meeting
if you would like to speak.

A
Little About Our Board Members
Mary Homan, Trustee
Mary
Homan, one of our newly elected Trustees, is both a resident
and a business owner in Los Ranchos.
Mary
has been very actively involved in the community since
she became a resident six years ago. Some of those involvements
are serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission, both
as vice-chair and secretary;the 2010 Master Plan Committee; MainStreet,
Inc.; Los Ranchos Neighborhood Association and the Chamber of Commerce.
"As
reinforced by the 2010 Master Plan survey results and by
my door-to-door meetings with the Village residents, I
know the importance of retaining our rural atmosphere,
open space, and independence as a Village. I know the importance
of revitalizing our business district, improving our traffic
and law enforcement, protecting our groundwater, and providing
proper sewer and drainage systems. And I know the importance
of making the needed improvements to our community through
grants and State/Federal funding, avoiding further taxation
of property owners."

Donald
T. (Don) Lopez, is a long term resident of the Village
of Los Ranchos and past Trustee. Don is a registered Professional
Engineer (PE), and worked for the State and Federal Government,
the US Air Force and is presently a consulting Civil Engineer,
with over 34 years of total engineering and management
experience. He has recently worked on the Big I Reconstruction
Project here in Albuquerque and the Flood Control Projects
in Los Alamos that resulted from the Cerro Grande Fire.
He has
lived most of his life in the Los Ranchos area of the Albuquerque
North Valley. He attended Los Ranchos Elementary, Taft
Junior High, Valley High School, New Mexico State University
(BSCE), the University of New Mexico (MSCE) and post graduate
study at the University of California at Berkeley. Don
recently retired as the Assistant State Engineer of New
Mexico and retired in 2000 as a Colonel after 32 years
of service in the United States Air Force and Air Force
Reserve.
Don offers
many years of practical engineering and management experience
to benefit our community. Serving as a past Trustee from
1992 to 2000, he maintained excellent contact with Village
Residents, strongly supported village business owners and
worked hard to make improvements to the village business
community. He spent a great deal of time to ensure the
upgrade of village infrastructure particularly the Rio
Grande Blvd. Resurfacing project. He feels his experience
and unique perspective will promote progress, common sense
solutions, and enable the village to provide the best and
most qualified government for the citizens of the Village
of Los Ranchos. One of his highest priorities will be to
ensure a continuous funding stream and the planning and
construction of badly needed sewers in critical areas of
the village and he will work very hard to protect our groundwater
resources.

Pablo
R. Rael, Trustee
Pablo
Rael and his wife have lived in the Village of Los Ranchos
for over 34 years and have raised 4 children here. They
love it here. They have a big investment here and believe
in giving back to the community for the many blessings
they have received.
Over
the years Pablo has served on numerous committees in the
Village including the Master Plan Committee, Los Ranchos
2000 Committee, Community Center Committee and the Mayor's
Citizens Advisory Committee. He was also the Village representative
on the Middle Rio Grande Council of Government Public Input
Committee and participated in the City of Albuquerque FOCUS
2050 Forum.
Pablo
has a BSBA degree from the University of Albuquerque. For
the past 19 years he has served on the Board of Directors
for a $200 million Credit Union. Twelve of those years
he served as Chairman. He also served several years on
the St. Pius X School Board as Chairman. After retiring
from US West, Pablo started a utility locating business,
which he still owns and manages.
Pablo's
focus on the Board of Trustees will be to help the business
community thrive while at the same time mitigate any concerns
of residents. He believes this should be a prime concern
of any municipal government because you need both to have
a viable community. Pablo
believes strongly that his business background as well
as his involvement in numerous organizations qualifies
him to represent all members of the Village. Residents
and business alike.
